Postmortem
Successes:
A major success was that we were able to create a fully functioning game not only on the editor, but mainly on our iPhones. It was cool and rewarding to see something being compiled on our phones that we use everyday. If we decided to continue working on the game we will for sure upload it on the App Store, so people could play. We were able to adapt to ongoing issues and come up with solutions that also pushed our game further than originally expected.
Challenges:
A challenge we faced was learning new things that can only be done on mobile devices. This is because there were touch controls that were not previously introduced or used. It required us to think differently as not all of them can be done on a mobile device due to the inputs and small screen size. It was also tricky to come up with minigame ideas as they had to be appropriate and not as its own game.
What We Learned:
We learned the difference between making a web game and a mobile game. The way we interact with the game is different as we are limited to touch controls. We also learned how to build and transfer it to our phones to become fully playable.
Possible Future Revisions:
We hope to add more levels which will also mean more minigames. We would also like to create a similar bit in portrait mode to see what ideas we would come up with in terms of the minigames. There were many outputs that we were not able to include such as haptic feedback. We believe it would create a better experience and feel more like a mobile game.
