Development Process & Playtesting

When making a mobile game there are many routes you can take. One thing we really thought about was the positioning of the game. Since our main focus was playing a spaceship both landscape and portrait would work, but then we decided to also include some minigames into our game. We believe that landscape would work the best.

Our spaceship has the ability to shoot and move around the screen in a set boundary. This allows you to dodge and aim at your targets. The enemies are also able to track you and shoot you and even crash into you. This creates many obstacles in which you have to pay attention while trying to reach the objective of defeating all enemies.

We decided to include some minigame portions which would serve as a cool down until the next wave. During the cooldown if you were to successfully win the minigame you will restore some of your health if not then no health boost will be given. In some instances you will also die.

The feedback given during playtesting was to have more features. The game looked very empty and simple as there were many missing components. We decided to add music and also enemies that will fight back. This will make the game more engaging as originally you could only move and shoot. We also added a bunch of different graphics that would bring the game to life.
