Postmortem
Successes:
A major success was that we were able to collaborate with each other to create a fully functional game. We built on top of each other's ideas and with the use of assets we were able to create office themed levels. Almost each aspect of the game were all original ideas by comparing it to real life which made it easy to brainstorm. Not all of us were familiar with Unity’s collaboration system so we learned how to add insightful comments when merging and syncing.
Challenges:
A challenge we all faced was creating the noise radius of our actions and making sure the enemies would follow appropriately in the correct direction. There were objects and walls that had to be kept in mind when creating the radius as the enemies may walk into them. We also had trouble creating the FOV for the enemies where it would not detect the player colliding. This was solved by recreating the tags and colliders.
What We Learned:
We learned how to come up with ideas together and build on one another. This resulted in the division of work where each member was responsible for a certain part of the game. We also learned how to use what we know from class and expand it to create different things. Editing music and photos were also required to make the game more personal and unique.
Possible Future Revisions:
We will hope to add more abilities that the player can choose to escape undetected. We talked about creating a shooting mechanism that will distract the player by throwing an object and can be used to stun them. We were hoping to add a noise level mechanism to our game where if you were to run it will attract enemies as you make more sound.
